Thanks to the Organizing Committee on the Melville-Nelles-Hoffmann Lecture

The History Department extends profoundest thanks to the organizing committee for their splendid work in ensuring that yesterday's Melville-Nelles-Hoffmann Lecture by Dr Christopher Morris was such a success. Our sincerest thanks to Carolyn Podruchny,
Colin Coates, Rachel Koopmans and, most of all, Myra Rutherdale for all their work, and to Tom Peace and Jim Clifford for their assistance too. Dr Morris certainly enjoyed his visit to York.

As was mentioned in Chair's opening remarks, the Department is very grateful to Viv Nelles and to Richard and Ellen Hoffmann for their generous financial contributions that will help to place this annual lecture series on a securer footing. If anyone would like to make a contribution (tax deductible, of course) to the Melville-Nelles-Hoffmann Lecture Fund, please get in touch with the chair at or with Tom McLagan (the chief development officer for LA&PS in the York Foundation) at
